The Jesus Lizard reunite, reissue remastered releases to retail, rejoicing resounds!

Even if you’ve had a crappy 2008, there’s at least one thing you have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: The Jesus Lizard is coming back! The world’s been deprived of the ‘Lizard’s clanking post-punk thump and general depravity since 1999, when the band shed its skin for the last time.

We have it on good faith from the Jesus Lizard’s first label, Touch & Go, that the original lineup of David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm. Sims and Mac McNeilly have agreed to perform at next year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties event The Fans Strike Back (also featuring miraculous reunion gigs from Sleep and Young Marble Giants) in Minehead, UK on May 9th and 10th, and another gig in their original hometown of Chicago in November ’09. Will Yow perform bottomless, or hang upside-down from the rafters, or cut off his hair on stage, or shoot vodka intravenously during the set? The possibilities are endless! I smell live DVD …

To coincide with this joyful reunion, Touch & Go will release remastered versions of Head, Goat, Liar and Down, the untouchable four albums that The Jesus Lizard put out on Touch & Go in the 90s. Bob Weston and Steve Albini (the original session engineer) will handle the remastering.
