The Hold Steady announce fall tour with Drive-By Truckers

The Hold Steady are nothing if not devoted live performers. This fall they will be launching yet another tour following the release of their summer jammy fourth album, Stay Positive. We already announced that The Hold Steady will strangely be opening for the Counting Crows at the end of the year. On their fall tour, The Hold Steady will be splitting opener duties within an equally strange, but somehow more fitting band: the southern rockers The Drive-By Truckers.

While his guitarist was busy starting shit with Radiohead, Craig Finn explained the decision to tour with the Truckers in vintage Finn aw- shucks-I'm-just-trying-to-make-it-through-the-day manner: "Seeing the Drive-By Truckers on the Southern Rock Opera tour was instrumental to me wanting to start a band and play music again. That band is the Hold Steady. This tour brings it full circle, and it will be a pleasure and an honor to be able to share a stage with the Truckers. We're gonna have a really good time."

Labeled the "Rock and Roll Means Well Tour," The Hold Steady and Drive-By Truckers will cross the country and then some over the course of nearly a month beginning on October 30. The dates are as follows:

10.30 Louisville, KY: Coyote's at City Block

Is there a lot of crossover here?

Not a lot but makes more sense than teaming with the Counting Crows.
