The Boss' time at the top of the charts was short--Colorado sap-rockers The Fray have grasped the number one spot out of Springsteen's clutches by selling 179,000 copies of their new, self-titled album. The Boss' Working on a Dream slid to number two with 102,000 copies sold, a 55% drop from last week.
The Fray hitting the top with 179K sold illustrates how far the record business has fallen, because when the band were at their peak of poularity in 2006, their record only hit number 14 with sales of 150,000. The Fray only had to sell 29,000 more albums to leap 13 spots to number one. [Billboard]
