The Flaming Lips, The National, “Weird Al” To Guest On ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ Season Three

Comedy Bang! Bang!, IFC’s off-beat talk show hosted by comedian Scott Aukerman and loop-station maestro Reggie Watts, is set to continue its third season on October 17 with a full slate of incredible musical guests including The Flaming Lips, The National, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Future Islands, The Lonely Island, and the Vandals. Pitchfork also has a couple of interesting photos of the upcoming season, including the photo above featuring the Lips’ Wayne Coyne dressed as Carrie beside Aukerman’s Wayne Campbell.

The television show version of Comedy Bang! Bang! grew out of Aukerman’s long-running podcast of the same name, and it features plenty of awkward interviews, wacky music from Watts, and famous comedians from Paul F. Tompkins to David Cross playing fictional guests and/or fictional versions of real people — Werner Herzog, for instance — in the name of the titular comedy.

Previous musical guests on the show include Josh Groban, Jenny Lewis, and Josh Homme, while recent episodes of the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast have featured Tune-Yards, St. Vincent, Twin Shadow, Tenacious D, and Loudon Wainwright III. The show’s third season resumes for ten more episodes on IFC starting October 17 while a 40-episode fourth season is already in the works.
