The Flaming Lips Announce Route For Record Breaking 24-Hour Tour

The Flaming Lips, holders of an unofficial record for the band who have pissed off Erykah Badu the most this week, have just released further details about their actual world record attempt scheduled for later this month. As previously reported, the Lips will try to beat Jay-Z’s Guinness World Record for the “most live concerts in 24 hours in multiple cities.” The rapper managed to hit seven cities in one day back in 2006, but Wayne Coyne and his band are going for eight.

Traveling by bus, the band will set out from Memphis, Tennessee on June 27 at 7:30 ET. Their 24-hour route, which is reproduced in full below, will see them play five cities in Mississippi plus Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before they finally finish up in New Orleans. Along the way, the band will be supported by clutch of special guests including Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Neon Indian, Grimes, and Gary Clark Jr.

Tickets for the shows are available from today (June 7), and the whole tour will be streamed live online in conjunction with MTV’s O Music Awards. [CoS]
