The Field to Release Yesterday & Today

Axel Willner, the mastermind behind electronic shoegaze project the Field, has recorded a new album. The disc, called Yesterday & Today, is the much-anticipated follow-up to the Field's excellent 2007 album, From Here We Go Sublime. Willner's label, Kompakt, claims on its website that the album will be "more organic than its predecessor," whatever that means. The warm fuzz and breathy swells of From Here We Go Sublime sounded about as organic as electronic music gets, if you ask me. But perhaps the more revealing detail is that Battles' drummer John Stanier will be thundering on the new record. Maybe, by "more organic," they just meant "louder." Either way, it should make for an interesting convergence of sounds. Will you still be able to get lost in Willner's dreamy tunes with Stanier bursting your eardrums with every slam on the snare? Well, to find out, pick up Yesterday & Today. The album will be out May 25 in Europe, and May 26 in the States. [Pitchfork]
