EELS 'best of' and rarities collection due in January

The Eels will release their first retrospective, Meet The EELS: Essential Eels Vol. 1, 1996-2006, which contains both a CD and DVD on January 15. What's more, the band will drop a double CD/DVD EELS Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks and Unreleased 1996-2006 that same day. The former spans the EELS' first decade with 24 tracks and a dozen promotional videos on the DVD. The latter has a whopping 50 tracks with gems like an unreleased cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You" and Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend" among many others. The DVD contains six performances from the EELS' Lollapalooza 2006 appearance.
