The Edge Says U2 Is Trying Manage Its Environmental Impact, Offers No Comment On Noise Pollution

After David Byrne called U2's 360 tour "excessive" given the band's stance on world hunger and protesters picketed three dates in Croke Park due to the upheaval caused by the tour's hundred or so trucks, band guitarist The Edge felt it was time to speak on the topic of environmental impact. Giving no specific details, he said that rock and roll shouldn't be singled out for its impact, and that U2 has a "program" in place to offset its carbon footprint. Hopefully the band has really thought this out, and more details will surface soon. I have this massive claw I'd like to set up in my yard, and I'd love to know how many trees I should plant to be able to sleep at night. [NME]
