The Depreciation Guild Touring, Dropping New LP, ‘Spirit Youth,’ May 18

Two members of this trio (one-time duo) of chiptune-shoegazers rose to prominence last year when their other project, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, landed on blogs and music sites. Critics loved the Pains’ knack for distorted twee and as a result of that success, the Depreciation Guild was temporarily placed on the back-burner.

But that didn’t last too long, as the group’s sophomore album, Spirit Youth, will be dropping May 18 on Kanine Records. For those of you unfamiliar with the Depreciation Guild’s take on what I would call noise-tendo-pop (I really hope no one else has used that), I suggest you find a way to hear their great debut, In Her Gentle Jaws.
