The Decemberists Turn Latest Album Into Animated Film

The Decemberists are kind of zany. Whether it be guitar throw-downs with Stephen Colbert, writing children's books, or simply using the word "parapets" in a song, the group is always showing up in unexpected ways. The latest is the release of their most recent album, The Hazards of Love, as an animated film. Apparently releasing a bizarre concept album/rock opera and then playing the whole thing start to finish at shows just wasn't enough.

Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized debut at a Decemberists show in L.A. on October 19. Come December 1, the whole video will be available on iTunes. The piece was created by Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka, and Santa Maria. Each filmmaker rendered animations to accompany specific parts of the album. Check the wild trailer above.
