The Darkness Announce New Album: ‘Hot Cakes’

Some things that have happened since the Darkness reformed last year: They’ve toured, they’ve released an animated video (below), they’ve admitted to hating each other, and they’ve even appeared in a Super Bowl commercial. What’s next? Clearly it’s time for a new album, which has just been announced for release via PIAS on Aug. 20.

The record will form the follow-up to One Way Ticket to Hell…and Back, which surfaced in 2005 and was swiftly followed by the break-up of the band. This new album is titled Hot Cakes and was produced by Justin and Dan Hawkins, along with collaborator Bob Erzin. No further details are available at present, but expect big riffs and much operatic wailing. [via The Quietus]
