The Cult's Ian Astbury Says that iTunes Has Destroyed Albums

More Negative Nancy news in the music biz: The Cult's Ian Astbury has been recorded stating that a) there will be no more Cult albums because b) the record format is dead thanks to iTunes. "iTunes destroyed albums. The whole idea of an album. Albums were established in the ‘70s and ‘80s and into the ‘90s, but they’ve been dead for a long time. Nobody buys albums. It’s been proven. It’s an arcane format, as much as the 78 rpm or writing sheet music for an orchestra," says Astbury. Wow, Ian, don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel! [The Daily Swarm via El Paso Times]
