New Merge band alert! Los Angeles' own The Broken West will release their first album, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On January 23rd on North Carolina's most famous indie label. From their name, you might think they owe a lot to Modest Mouse. But their on the whole a lot happier than Isaac Brock and Co., rocking more of a big sound sing-a-long vibe a la The Hold Steady. In addition, the band has secured a coveted residency at Silverlake's hip gig spot Spaceland for the month of January.
