Like Coldplay and Mylo Xyloto before them, The Black Keys have kept their new album, El Camino, off of streaming services like Spotify, RDIO, and Rhapsody, among others. This has been bandied about as a mega negative, like the Keys don't want their fans to have access to a cheap way to check out their album. However, the band made that choice for a sort of reasonable reason: They're sure streaming services hurt sales. That's almost certainly true, but we'll see if the strategy actually helps. The Keys are expected to be near the top of Billboard next week.
But don't think El Camino won't ever be on streaming services. It will be released to streaming services at a later date. [DMN]
