As someone who discovered The Beatles during the high-point of the CD-era (aka the late '90s), I can attest to the fact that The Beatles CDs leave much to be desired--the liner notes are paltry and the mixing is kind of harsh, since it is same since The Beatles catalog got issued on CD in the late '80s. Apple and EMI are out to correct that wrong, as they have announced that the band's 12 main studio albums, plus their rarities comp Past Masters , will be re-released and remastered on September 9, to coincide with the release of Beatles Rock Band .
The remastered albums wil feature the original vinyl artwork, and all will feature liner and recording notes. All of the remastered albums will also feature mini-documentaries that will provide rare interviews and information about the recording of each album.
The entire collection will be available in a box set. For those that prefer their old recordings in mono only, there will also be a box set that collects all of the band's mono recordings (10 discs).
There's no word on if the albums will also finally make their debut in digital stores, but the label is still in discussions to release the material digitally.
