As we previously reported, duo-turned-trio Tennis hit the studio with Patrick Carney, of the Black Keys, to record their new album. And today, we're finally hearing what's come of their time together in Nashville, Tenn. by way of lead single "Origins." As soon as the track starts, it's clear that the Denver-based band has fleshed out their sound.
There are still some touches of older genres, especially doo-wop, but the production is far richer and thicker. Tennis has clearly stepped away from the bedroom recordings of their past and are looking to make a more refined statement. And so far, we can dig it.
Listen to "Origins," which drops Dec. 6 on Forest Family Records, below. It's off their upcoming sophomore full-length album, Young And Old, which is due out Feb. 14, 2012 on Fat Possum.
