Some guy named Scott put up his list of his favorite punk appearances of all time on his blog, and he's definitely got some good ones here. Some highlights: a young Ian Mackaye stage diving right at the beginning of Fear's performance on Saturday Night Live; Ray "Youth of Today" Capp0, Harley "Cro Mags" Flanagan, Jimmy "Murphy's Law" Gestapo and other NYHC stalwarts on Phil Donahue in the mid 80s; and Elvis Costello doing "Radio Radio" on SNL against the big wigs' wishes, which got him banned from the show for life (actually it turned out to be ten years). But the clear winner -- though not according to Scott -- has to be Iggy Pop being interviewed by Tom Snyder. Check it. He's missing a front tooth, his mouth is bleeding, he clearly spinning on some type of amphetamine, and he dissects Dionysian and Apollonian art. Go here as Scott has graciously posted all the clips and gives you his reasoning for each placement.
Here's the list:
10. NOFX on ESPN (2001)
09. The Doors on "The Ed Sullivan Show" (1967)
08. Iggy Pop on “The Tom Snyder Show” (1980)
07. Brendan Kelly and Michael Graves on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” (2004)
06. The Sex Pistols on “The Today Show” (1976)
05. NYHC on "Phil Donahue" (1986)
04. “Next Stop Nowhere” on “Quincy" (1982)
03. Fear, Ian MacKaye on “Saturday Night Live” (1981)
02. Elvis Costello on “Saturday Night Live” (1977)
01. The Ramones on “The Simpsons” (1993)

That Elvis Costello is my favorite he did something similar with the Beastie Boys for a 25 years of music special.
