SXSW goes global

SXSW is officially an international phenomenon. The music, film, and interactive festival held each year in music-obsessed Austin, Texas, has announced that over 50 countries will be sending bands this year. Also, of all bands in SXSW 2009, forty percent are from outside the U.S. The UK represents the most foreign bands, followed by Canada, and Mexico, which has received 41 invitations. The latest evidence that the music industry is becoming increasingly globalized could give us a buzz band from Latin America in 2009.
