SXSW Announces First Six Bands

Every year, thousands of music industry heads roll into Austin, Tex. for the purpose of checking out South by Southwest, one of the largest music festivals in America. The industry-only event features over 700 performers in over 80 venues from the Austin area and is often a break-out opportunity for upcoming artists.

The first six bands for 2010's SXSW, which will be held March 12 through 21, were announced, and not a one of them hail from inside the United States. The confirmed are Spain's Giulia y los Tellarini, Mexico's Hong Kong Blood Opera, London's Archie Bronson Outfit and CHEW LiPS, Australia's Temper Trap, and Canada's Japandroids. Start working on a plausible backstory to get a pass for the festival now. [The Daily Swarm]

I'm feigning lung cancer in hopes the Make A Wish foundation gives me an all-expense paid trip. So if you see me there, and I'm bald, you'll know I went the extra mile.
