We reported on rumblings of Swans' new album back in July 2011, when it was revealed that Michael Gira and company were working on a follow-up to 2010's My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky. Since then, news of the band's twelfth project has been slow-coming. Until today.
Spin reports that Swans will release their new record, The Seer, this summer and it will feature two discs worth of music. Some songs will apparently be as long as 30 minutes (!) and there are plenty of guest musicians and vocalists in the mix. Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O, Low’s Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, and Akron/Family are all set to appear on the album. Yeah, this is definitely now on our anticipated list for 2012.
