Influential New York post-punk band Swans' last album, Soundtracks for the Blind was released in 1996. To say a follow-up is long overdue in an understatement, and since their reformation earlier this, a new release was inevitable.
The new album is titled My Father Will Guide Me a Rope Up to The Sky, and it's Sept. 14 release will be exactly two weeks before they begin their short US tour. Guest appearances and collaborators will include Natalie Portman's ex-boyfriend Devendra Banhart, R.E.M. drummer Bill Rieflin and Mercury Rev guitarist Grasshopper.
Remember the 90s? They're making quite the comeback this year.
I dont know what is more surprising: the Swans recording a new album or that Devendra Banhart will be on it. WTF?
i remember when Michael Gira was miffed at the Prefix over a review.
That was way early on. That was Baby Prefix. Didn't he accidentally cc us on an e-mail or something? "Take these guys off our mailing list." I remember that quote pretty vividly.
Can you blame him? Your review of the third AOL album was downright moronic.
