A rather unscientifically conducted survey done by UK independent label Marrakesh Records is suggesting that young music fans, at least the ones in the UK, would rather go without sex for a week than music.
They surveyed 1000 people, ages 15-24, with 60 percent saying that they would rather go without sex for a week than without music. Possibly more important to the industry, 61% said that music should be free, while 70% feel no guilt illegally downloading music.
No details now about the way in which the survey was conducted (i.e. how the respondents were chosen), or the age distribution of respondents (i.e. how many 15-year-olds would rather go without sex for a week vs. 24-year-olds), or the type of music respondents listen to, but if you're interested in the details you can see all of the results at marrakeshrecords.com on Monday, Feb. 16.

Why say it is "unscientific" or that there are "no details of the way in which the survey was conducted" when you haven't emailed us for a free copy of the report or asked for details of the survey methodology, which was conducted by a bona fide and highly respected third party market research company? We put the effort in - why don't you!?
You are a lazy sod
I've worked for market research companies and the fact that they're requested doesn't mean they are highly respected. Marketing research never intends to be scientific so Matthew was right and wrong at the same time.
By the way, the details on the survey should had been provided by you on the site, people aren't supposed to request them by email or sorts. In other words, YOU do you job, Matthew did his.
If an indie label in this economy bothered to spend the money to hire a market research firm to conduct a survey this pointless, I will eat my own chin. Then I will suggest to your artists that they go someplace else.
