Super Furry Animals new album due in March
What do John Cale, Young Marble Giants and actor Rhys Ifans have in common? Yes, they’re all from Wales. Ifans briefly played with Super Furry Animals during the band’s formative period, and recently reunited with Furries drummer Dafydd Ieuan for a side project named The Peth (which translates as “The Thing” in Welsh).

But with The Peth now dormant, the Super Furry Animals have announced a new record, which is yet to bear a title. A statement from the band says the record is “based around riffs and grooves we've been playing around with over the last few years. We have enough now for a whole album so even though it's still very melodic we thought we could leave off the acoustic ballads for the time being."

Fortunately Pete Fowler is back on board to do artwork for the band, which should make up for the dreadful cover art from their last album, Hey Venus! (although Japanese artist Tanaami, who came up with the Hey Venus! monstrosity, is also contributing). The album is released on the official Super Furry Animals website on March 16, and then in stores and other locations on April 21.

I got this news this morning and am very excited. They're pretty much my favourite band, ever.

I still think Rings Around the World is the most underrated album of the decade. I would say it's the best album of it's kind since Mott, but I think it's better than that too.

I think they're all ridiculously underrated, but I'm not even sure RATW is my favourite.
