Suicide Silence Vocalist Mitch Lucker Dies In Motorcycle Accident

It's a tragic day for heavy metal music and metal fans everywhere.

Mitch Lucker, the vocalist for death metal band Suicide Silence, was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. today after sustaining injuries from a motorcycle accident that took place shortly before 9 p.m. last night in Orange County, California. 

"The Orange County coroner’s office said Lucker was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. Thursday at UCI Medical Center in Orange County. The victim had the same name and date of birth as the singer, officials confirmed."

Lucker was 28 years old at the time of his death.

The Suicide Silence website has been down all morning and representatives for the band have not released a formal statement as of yet.

[Update] A representative for the band took to their Facebook recently and posted the following alongside a live photo of Lucker:

"There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.
