Last year, Sufjan Stevens and Ray Raposa, of Castanets, joined forced to record a score for a documentary called Beyond This Place. It centers on the ups and downs of a father-son relationship, with filmmaker Kaleo La Belle and his father, who apparently smokes a ton of weed, in the leading roles. And next month, the Brooklyn Academy of Music is screening the film at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House. Those attend the screening will get more than just a visual experience as Stevens and Raposa are set to perform their collaborative score live while the film plays. Pretty rad.
The Beyond This Place screening takes place on Oct. 30 at the Howard Gilman Opera House, which is located in the Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y. You can watch the film's trailer below.
