Sufjan Stevens Planning Song-Based LP for Next Year

Sufjan Stevens has apparently but the brakes on his ambitious (and kind of dumb, when you get down to it) 50 states project, instead promising that he'll be putting out a "song-based" LP in 2010.

 

"I'm trying to dissuade any kind of conceptual framework and just write music, love songs, pop songs, and just forget all that conceptual mess..."

So, like Seven Swans? Or like Illinoise, minus songs about John Wayne Gacy? We'll find out in 2010. [Stereogum]
