Sublime "Reunite" with New Singer
Sublime are one of those bands that demarcate the line between those who smoke pot in their cars at lunch during high school and those who don't. If you like to puff and pass in the front seat of your Volkswagen Vanagon every day, you probably have a Sublime bumper sticker on that SOB.
Sublime have been a non-entity since the heroin overdose death of lead singer Bradley Nowell in 1996, and unlike most other bands from the period that lost a lead singer (like Alice in Chains and Blind Melon) Sublime have stayed away from going out on the money train and touring with a new singer.
That might be set to change however, since at a show this weekend for original drummer Bud Gaugh's other band Del Mar, Gaugh and original bassist Eric Wilson were joined by a new singer named only Rome for a Sublime cover set.
There's no word on whether or not the band will tour with Rome, but I'm betting cats with Vanagons would be all over this. I know a few people that don't want this "reunion" to happen: Badfish, the number one Sublime tribute band, who tour the U.S. regularly, and apparently couldn't come up with their own brand of lame stoner reggae/rock. It's not the other 2 guys fault that Brad was lame and killed himself. Why should their career end because of his loser mistake? The Sublime sound was just as much them as it was Brad. There are a dozen ripoff tribute bands out there making money playing their songs the "Wrong Way" so why shouldn't the real guys be doing it the right way?

New singer? WTF! Most of you guys miss the whole point of sublime unique vocals of that dry itchy throat affect. Rome can't even scratch his balls let alone sing like him. Which idiot is betting on these guys must be a moron! Sublime was about the vocals and vocals only, not damn bass or drums that any average joe can play or produce!

Okay, what Bradley did with herion and whatnot was stupid, but he was not a loser. He made sand some of the most insperational lyrics ever writtin, in my views. On the other hand they others are just as talented and deserve to put that out there, they just need support and help from Rome. Who is talented even though not quite as talented as Brad.

Yes, all of this is scarey to hear, but its funny to see how fast some idiots jump the gun. The same Sht is happening with the whole Alice In Chains reuniting thing and not nearly enough people are speaking out about that that's pretty sad because the whole band is basically screwing Layne over. But back to the Sublime thing; I think that the true Sublime fans will stick to the old and genuine music that Bradley sang and not give in to Rome; because all in all the only reason i see fit for the band to get back together is to please society. and that ain't right yo.
Oh yeah and btw i was on the bus on my way to school this morning when i heard about this; and i totally went on a tangent about how eff-ed up it was hahaha.
