Somehow the '70s have ascended to a place of honor with the Strokes, and the band members are bringing back the decade on their much anticipated fourth album. Singer Julian Casablancas promised during an interview promoting his solo debut, Phrazes for the Young, that the forthcoming record would sound like Thin Lizzy meeting A-Ha. He went on to say that getting all of his vision past the band is a little challenging, because the band comprises "five incredibly picky dudes." One Stroke probably down with the '70s is Nikolai Fraiture, who is starting his own running craze by competing in the New York Marathon, on Nov. 1. The bassist will be running to benefit the New York Road Runners Foundation's Team for Kids charity. Those interested in sponsoring his run can head here. Be sure to include the bassist's name, FRAITURE, and his entry number, 445053.Fraiture has been mum on whether he'll be rocking some sweet retro shorts during the race. [NME] and [NME]
