Wolf Parade’s third album Expo 86 will be available on June 29 on Sub Pop, but the wait to hear it is over. The band is currently streaming the record in full over on its MySpace site for a limited period leading up to the official release, no doubt hoping to quash the appeal of leaked copies.
Dan Boeckner talked about Expo 86 to Pitchfork, saying: “It's a lot more focused than the last one. There's a lot more energy on it, and it's hard for me to even relate it back to Apologies [to the Queen Mary] because that album seems like a long time ago. I don't know if it's a blend of the last two records; it's definitely different from both of them.”
Head over here to listen to Expo 86, the title of which is based on the World’s Fair staged that year in Vancouver. “We all grew up in British Columbia, and we were all at Expo, which lasted about three or four days,” explains Boeckner. “It's a weird little thought experiment-- basically, we were all young children at the same big event.”
