Stream The Roots’ New Song “When The People Cheer”

    It’s been long overdue, but the Roots will finally be returning with a new album entitled …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, which will serve as a followup to the band’s 2011, critically lauded LP Undun. Their new LP will be a concept album called an “anti-rap” opera and today the collective has released a cut off the album entitled “When The People Cheer.” 

    It’s a sort of melancholic tune as Black Thought flexes his rapping muscle over the lullaby-esque melody. Following last week’s announcement that the group will be on Hot 97 Summer Jam, The Roots gave the OK to DJ Kast One to premiere the track on Hot 97. Stream the track below.
