Our anticipation for Annie Clark's third St. Vincent album, Strange Mercy, shot up considerably last month when we saw footage of her performing four tracks from the record live in New York. So you'll have to excuse our (my) excitement in learning that she's linked with the folks at NPR to stream the entire album one week before its release. It's her first project since 2009's Actor, which already showcased an immense step forward in Clark's approach to songwriting. So as good as Strange Mercy is sounding, it's difficult to not think of just how great her fourth effort will be. But enough looking into the future.
Strange Mercy drops Sept. 13 on 4AD. Stream it at NPR.
