Stream some new Avalanches

Holy schneist! New Avalanches! New freaking Avalanches! How cool is this?
You do remember them, don't you? Back before Girl Talk went sample crazy, these Aussies used much less smackingly obvious snippets to craft what more than one writer here at Prefix thinks was the best album to come along in quite some time, 2000's Since I Left You. Seven years later, we still don't have a follow-up, but the band has posted what they're calling a "teazer" (sic) on their website. It's not any material that will show up on Since's eventual successor--its more akin to the DJ mixes members of the band do around clubs in the Land Down Under. Reminds me of a great appearance they put in on KCRW's Morning Become Eclectic, which you can still cull up here.

it's not that bad. some cheesy carribbean stuff. They've been into this stuff for a while, they've always had a soft spot for van dykes style flourishes. It's done better on their excellent cornerstone mix. Their recent remixes have been great and their other mixes are good too, I see no reason to panic.

Yeah, I don't see this as far off from their earlier stuff. And it's just a one-off, club mix type of thing. After a lot of years, the album will surely be much more polished than this.

i love this, but i have a soft spot for classic soca. but i think this is just a straightforward mix as opposed to production work.
