Stream PJ Harvey “Red Right Hand” (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Cover)

Right in time for Halloween, PJ Harvey’s recording of “Red Right Hand” has been released for stream. Previously written and recorded by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds for their 1994 album Let Love In, Harvey’s take on the track is haunting. Her vocals dreadfully whimper the song’s lyrics as it’s accompanied by a chilling piano and sparse instrumentation.

The song was commissioned by producers of the show BBC TV drama titled “Peaky Blinders.” Audiences clamored and complained that the show for seeming too “American.” Hopefully Harvey’s rendition of the track will thwart off that vibe.

In an interview with NME, Flood the show’s music producer stated:

“We’re trying to make it feel much more European and British and PJ fits that bill perfectly,” he said. “I phoned Polly up and she was very interested. We’re trying to deconstruct all of Polly’s material and then weave it through, it’s very cutting-edge and modern.”
