I've never watched True Blood -- yeah, I must be the last person on the planet. But according to KCRW, apparently each episode of the sultry vampire drama is named after one of the songs played within the episode. And when Gary Calamar -- a KCRW DJ/True Blood music superviser -- saw that the first episode of the fourth season was named after the Zombies' "She's Not There," he had to do something special.
So he got in touch with Neko Case and Nick Cave, whose respective pipes and growl are a perfect match. They absolutely do the track justice while exuding just as much sexuality, Cave especially, as the show itself. Apparently the original idea was to use Santana's cover of "She's Not There," which probably would have been fine but not nearly as memorable as what's happening here.
You can listen to the cover and read more about how it came together at KCRW.
