Marissa Nadler's first album in two-and-a-half years titled July is coming out next week, February 4, on Sacred Bones. This is a revelation, considering we might not even have a Nadler album if it weren't for Sacred Bones. Speaking with Noisey, Nadler points out her path in life was to stray away from labels and self-releases and to move on, but an e-mail from the label got her to rethink and, thus, we have July. It's much more dense than her previous records, with a layer of haze mystifying the melodies within.
You can stream the album over at NPR Music's First Listen. Be prepared, it's certain to swallow you whole with all kinds of emotional leanings and spell-like vocals from Nadler herself. Definite can't miss and definitely worth your time, over and over again.
Below, you can view the enthralling video for the lead single, "Dead City Emily."
