We first heard the results of the Flaming Lips’ joint EP with Lightning Bolt earlier this week when a video for “I Want to Get High But I Don’t Want Brain Damage” appeared online. At least, what we heard was about half of the track, because it turns out that “I Want to Get High…” actually clocks in at more than six minutes. The rest of the EP is just as long, if not longer, as one cut — the appropriately fucked “I’m Working at NASA on Acid” — bursts and drones on for 11 minutes.
Don’t just take my word for it, though. You can stream all four tracks below thanks to Psych Explorations of the Future Heart. Fans of the Lips’ more straightforward stuff are probably going to be pretty turned off by these tracks, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying this noisy psych experiment.
