Stream: Blu's Randomly Released New LP, 'je s u s'

Blu's next proper album, NoYork!, doesn't have an official release date yet. But that didn't stop the mysterious rapper-producer from uploading a new project, je s u s, to a random Bandcamp page. The 11-track, dusty-as-fuck album is available for purchase and streaming now, even if its release date is listed as June 1.

I can't think of a more appropriate way for Blu to release something like this considering dude has a total I-release-what-I-want-when-I-want mentality. More power to him, I guess, even if he could probably make some decent paper if he released this in a more traditional sense. je s u s might be super-rough but so was HerFavoriteColo(u)r, though that project had an official release this year through Nature Sounds.

That has me thinking -- maybe this, too, will find its way into stores in a year or two. I mean, why not? His rhymes are that fantastically blunted, stream-of-consciousness style he has been flaunting over the past few years. And dude's got beats on here from the Alchemist, Madlib, Hezekiah, and Knxwledge. Might as well give the people what they want, right?
