Ever wonder where your favourite rap artists got their beginnings, who's behind some of the key players in the hip-hop underground, or where they got their name from? Well, if you're a fan of Madlib, Madvillain, J Dilla, Aloe Blacc, or Dâm-Funk (to name a few), then keep a look out for Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton (This Is Stones Throw Records).
The documentary by filmmaker Jeff Broadway will shed some light on the enigmatic origins of left-field hip-hop label Stones Throw. The trailer alludes to an in-depth look at the relationship between Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf before the former's untimely death in 1993. Candid interviews with Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf and a soundtrack brought to you by the Beat Konducta himself should be reason enough for any hip-hop enthusiast to put down the headphones for a couple hours. A hard copy of Madlib's film score will also be available in the Collector's Edition DVD/CD Box Set of the documentary.
With only two weeks remaining on his Kickstarter campaign, Broadway is looking to fans for support. The campaign ends November 29th so remember, if you view the trailer, you gotta donate.
