Well, that didn’t take long. An album allegedly “inspired by” Michael Jackson has been recorded just a few short weeks after the King of Pop’s death. Former Stone Roses singer Ian Brown, who has sung quite awful versions of “Thriller” and “Billy Jean” in the past (see below), is claiming his new record was made with Jackson in mind.
"Thriller was our blueprint," Brown said in an interview with NME. "Every time we wrote a song we didn't think was strong enough, we scrapped it. We mastered it on the day that Michael Jackson died too, so I'm taking that as a good omen." The album is called My Way, and is set for release on September 28 in the U.K.
In the meantime, here are Brown’s versions of “Thriller” and “Billy Jean,” which are among the strangest and most unpalatable cover versions of all time.
