Last week, the most interesting thing to happen to American Idol since, well, it began, took place. Tensions flared between judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, in which the former threatened to shoot the latter.
For some strange reason, Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks was asked about the whole affair, perhaps due to her tangential involvement to the show in the past (she coached the contestants last season). Nicks said she wouldn't have taken too kindly to Minaj's threat, and she issued a threat of her own: "If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.”
Of course, Nicks is now back-tracking her statement, claiming it was due to being tired. "I want to apologise for my remarks about Nicki Minaj's behaviour toward Mariah Carey which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews," the singer stated. "It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said." If only American Idol were this exciting all the time.[NME]
