The stage production of
, due to debut in New York City on May 7th, will be scored by none other than Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt.
In what is likely an effort to create some press buzz (although considering the popularity of the film, a certain amount of buzz is inevitable), a discussion with Merritt, David Greenspan (the writer of the book Coraline) Leigh Silverman (the director of the show), and others is set to take place on Tuesday, April 21st. The talk will be moderated by journalists from the New York Times and WNBC, and will conclude with a first-time public performance of one of Coraline’s songs by Merritt.
