Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks touring with Blitzen Trapper

Is it possible to marry the unlistenable excesses of jam bands with impenetrable indie-rock cool? Anyone who has caught a recent live show by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks will have been subjected to some serious jam sessions, proving that even the most turgid elements of rock music are not beyond revival. Can we expect to see 10-minute bass solos becoming a hipster staple in the not-too-distant future? My ears are already shuddering.

The jam-tastic Jicks are hitting the road for more dates in support of the Real Emotional Trash album, and they’re taking Sub Pop signings Blitzen Trapper along for the ride. Blitzen Trapper has a new album, titled FURR, due for release on September 23. Full Jicks/Trapper dates listed below.
