It didn’t take Stephen Malkmus long to return to business as usual following the Pavement reunion last year. The new Jicks album was produced by Beck and is titled Mirror Traffic, and you can hear the record in its entirety over at NPR for a limited time. A few of these tracks will already be familiar—“Tigers” and “Senator” have already been released ahead of time—and NPR claims that those songs and the rest of the album is “about as brutally forward and honest as Malkmus has ever sounded.” That’s definitely a change in approach for the singer, who is best known for masking sentiment in cryptic wordplay. You can find out how that plays out by clicking on this link to hear Mirror Traffic in full, or pick up a copy when it's released on Aug. 28.
