Starbucks Corporation plans to give away 50 million free digital songs to promote its new download service. Baristas will hand out 1.5 million "Song of the Day" cards from October 2 to November 7. The thirty seven artists featured will include Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchell, the first two artists to sign with Starbucks Hear Music label, as well as Joss Stone, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Annie Lennox.
