Two years really isn't a very long wait between albums, so maybe it's because St. Vincent's debut, Marry Me, was pretty good, that it seems like we've gone forever without new material from guitarist Annie Clark. Luckily for us, Clark hasn't been spent these last two years hunting for her MRS. Actor, the sophomore LP from St. Vincent is out May 5 on 4AD, and was co-produced by Clark and John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Polyphonic Spree). Clark herself plays guitar, keys and bass on the record, with additional work from other musicians, including Hideaki Aomori and Alex Sopp on woodwinds, and rhythm section work fromMcKenzie Smith and Paul Alexander of Midlake.
If you're eager to hear songs from the upcoming Actor, your best is probably St. Vincent's two SXSW dates. After that Clark is scheduled to play both Bonnaroo and Sasquatch.
Looking forward to this one. Like many people, I have a major crush on Ms. Clark.
Marry Me was one of my favourite albums of 2007, i'm dying to hear her new stuff.
I thought she was much better live than on record with her last album. Maybe her great style had something to do with that? Looking forward to checking this one.
