One of the more recent interviews with St. Vincent's Annie Clark paired her up with Patton Oswalt. Amongst numerous hilarious sidebars and insights into stand-up comedy, Clark mentioned that she was working on her next St. Vincent album. She said it would be finished up by the end of May and due out in the fall.
And wouldn't you know it, she kept her promise as her third record, Strange Mercy, is dropping in September. It includes 11 new tracks and was produced by previous collaborator John Congleton. According to a release, the album features "St. Vincent redefining the idea of the guitar hero, utilizing the instrument as a pointillist artist might wield a brush. Countless judiciously placed riffs and instrumental flares, each distinct and unique, cohere into grand tableaus." Sounds good to us.
Strange Mercy drops Sept. 13 on 4AD. Watch St. Vincent perform "The Strangers" live below.
