Probably the last thing indie music fans would expect to hear is that half of their favorite acts will appear on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack. Well brace yourselves vampire fans (or haters), the New Moon soundtrack now hosts the likes of Thom Yorke, Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear, and most recently, Bon Iver with St. Vincent.
Upon hearing the news, Pitchfork caught up with St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) to discuss her contributions to the soundtrack. In the interview, Annie Clark displays a pleasant incredulousness at the prospect of the soundtrack being a flat-out commercial success, and appears to like the idea of "nine-year-old kids picking it up and having their universe expanded a bit."
"…it's awesome to be included on anything that has Thom Yorke on it and Grizzly Bear, and that's good company for sure. And also, I remember, the thing is-- we were basically all suburban tweenagers at a point. I know for damn sure I was. I think if I had this soundtrack, if my 13-year-old self could've been exposed to Grizzly Bear, I probably would've been a little further along and probably better off," concluded Clark. [Pitchfork]
