SST Taking Down Tons Of Punk Videos Off YouTube

We usually associate YouTube copyright claims with big labels like Universal or Interscope, labels keeping down the poor dudes trying to soundtrack a really rad Tony Hawk 3 video with "My Name Is." However, SST Records, the seminal punk label owned by Black Flag's Greg Ginn, is getting a reputation for taking down tons of videos off YouTube, squashing any and every clip that features SST-owned songs. The technique has been working--it's hard to find clips of fIREHOSE for instance--and SST has started drawing ire from websites and video creators, who are saying some of the works squashed by SST fall under fair use. SST, and Ginn, haven't responded, but SST is obviously behind the tear down, since the label's name is all over the video takedowns. For a more detailed breakdown, head to Huffington Post.
