Spoon's Daniel working with Jon Brion, on something, maybe

According to a piece in TexasMonthly, Spoon frontman Britt Daniel is currently in Los Angeles, cutting demos with composer and producer Jon Brion. According to Daniel, it's a whole new experience for him, involving creating bits of sound that may or may not become parts of new songs. The sessions will not, as we all secretly hoped for a second there, culminate in a collaboration between Daniel and former Brion-produced artist Kanye West. In fact, we don't know what it will culminate in, since Daniel seems guarded not just on what these new songs will become, but whether or not they will be any good. So yeah, there's a Spoon album in the works. Sort of. It could be good. Maybe. But it definitely won't be out this year, that's for sure.
