Anyone passing the Mojave stage (or tuning into the online broadcast) as Spiritualized launched into its set at this year’s Coachella Festival will have witnessed a perplexing sight. Problems with feedback and other technical difficulties caused Jason Pierce to halt the band in mid-song, triggering an uneasy start to one of the final “Acoustic Mainlines” shows. Pierce has decided to exorcise the technical gremlins by putting the full band back together to support new album Songs in A&E, which comes with a 32-page booklet documenting the singer’s battle with pneumonia. The cheery packaging is previewed and discussed in this fascinating interview with Pierce and designer Mark Farrow. Here’s the full North American tour schedule, which looks like it could use a few additions. [Pitchfork]

Thank god he's gonna plug in and rock out again. The acoustic mainlines shows were pretty enough, but nothing compares to seeing Spiritualized electric.
